Protecting our visitors and staff members
We are delighted to welcome you to the new, world class Bodmin Jail attraction, where you can discover the hidden stories and myths of Cornwall, Bodmin and the historic jail building where it all happened.
The safety and wellbeing of our visitors and staff are of the utmost importance to us, and to help us to keep you safe we will be maintaingin our safety measures to reduce the risk associated with the presence of COVID-19.
Some of these measures need consideration before you arrive, so we would appreciate your understanding of our policies to ensure you have a safe and memorable visit to Bodmin Jail.

BEFORE YOU ARRIVE

Pre-booked online
We strongly advise booking online to regulate numbers and guarantee timed entry. You will be able to print tickets at home and bring to the attraction, or show your mobile phone on arrival.

Timed entry system
The attraction will be operated on a timed entry system, and we have limited the numbers permitted to allow for full social distancing requirements. You will need to pre-book your time slot when you book your tickets. We recommend allowing 1.5-2 hours to visit the jail.

Card only
We are encouraging card only payments in our Gift Shop, preferably contactless. The limit has been increased to £45 for contactless transactions.

Displaying symptoms
We politely request that you do not visit our attraction if you start to display any symptoms associated with COVID-19. Please contact us on 01208 76292 or info@bodminjail.org to reschedule your booking.

Pushchairs and dogs
Please leave children’s pushchairs in the car where possible, as these will not be allowed into the attraction. Please also note that no dogs are permitted (except guide dogs).
ON ARRIVAL

Public pay and display
A new public pay and display car park will be situated adjacent to the jail, providing ample parking for visitors.

Social distancing
We are maintaining social distancing in our queues as per government guidelines (1 metre plus). Clear floor markings will be present on main walkways and staff will monitor the queues to ensure that social distancing is being maintained.

Face masks and hand sanitiser
Face masks and hand sanitiser will be offered on arrival in the ticket hall, and non-invasive temperature checks may be taken on request. Any person displaying a high temperature associated with fever will not be permitted into the attraction.

Hygiene screens
We have installed hygiene screens at all our tills and reviewed all procedures so our staff are able to still serve visitors whilst maintaining social distance. Please respect the fact that service may take a little longer.

Staff PPE
Our staff may be wearing PPE whilst performing a number of routine tasks, including face masks, disposable gloves and eye protection. These measures have been put in place to protect both staff and visitors.
MEASURES IN PLACE IN THE ATTRACTION

One-way systems
One-way systems have been put in place throughout the attraction, with some walkways widened where possible to allow visitors to pass through whilst still maintaining a safe distance.

Enhanced cleaning
We are introducing enhanced cleaning measures throughout the day, which seek to disinfect high frequency touch points. Deep cleaning measures are in place if required.

Interactive elements closed
Due to the nature of the attraction, some interactive, high touch elements located in The Administration Block will be closed until further notice. These are an added value offering and these restrictions will not affect the enjoyment of your visit.

Sanitiser and handwipes
Hand sanitiser and handwipes will be offered on arrival in the ticket hall, in all WCs and in several other high-touch points throughout the attraction for visitors to use.

Limited numbers
The Gift Shop will operate with limited numbers allowed at any one time, with a ‘one in, one out’ policy once at capacity. Please be aware queuing may be required during busy periods, and lone shopping is encouraged where possible. We encourage card payments only, preferably contactless.

Staff proximity
We have revised some of our standard operating protocols to reduce the proximity of our staff to visitors. Assistance from staff will be, of course, available but we politely ask for it to be minimised to essential needs whilst maintaining a safe distance.

No food or drink
No food or drink is to be consumed within the attraction.
We hope these new health and safety measures provide you with confidence when choosing to visit our attraction. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to the new Bodmin Jail experience and ask you to follow the rules and guidance offered by our staff members to allow for a safe experience for all.
