Please note that visitors are advised to utilise the parking facilities at Sainsbury's, as parking is limited on-site. Thanks to the cooperation of the supermarket, visitors can park there for up to two and a half hours.

A group visit to Bodmin Jail is a truly memorable experience. Whether you are a large group of friends looking to make lasting memories, a study group expanding your knowledge, or a group of work colleagues looking for something just a little bit different from the usual team building experiences Bodmin Jail is the perfect destination! We have several different products you can choose from, take a look at the options below to find what suits your group best.

Pre-booking your group visit gives you guaranteed entry and peace of mind. You will benefit from discounted rates for groups of 10 or more by advance of your visit. We advise booking in advance, especially if you would like to visit during peak season June – September.

Group Products

 

Self-Guided Entry

Our self-guided Jail Entry tickets allows your group to explore our attraction in their own time. Best suited for groups who like to delve into our history at their own speed and pace. This visit is approximately 1-1.5 hours but you may take as long as you wish to venture through the attraction with these tickets.

 

Chaperone Entry

Your group will be assigned a Heritage Guide to accompany your group through the museum to answer questions you may have whilst still allowing you to explore at your own pace. This is best suited for groups who would like to chat a little about our history but not have the structure of a full history tour. You can look and move where you wish with your guide. This visit is approximately 1.5-2 hours.

 

Guided Tour Entry

This tour assigns you one of our award-winning Heritage Guides to take you through the museum on a structured tour. You will follow the guide as they take you room to room, verbally explaining the jails rich and dark history to your group. This is best suited for groups who want an in-depth talk about our prison and its infamous inmates. Please note the tour is only offered in English and is exactly 2 hours in length, this is also a standing tour with limited seating available. You can meet our award-winning guides here.

Parking

Public parking is available within the Bodmin Town car parks just a short stroll away.

NOTICE: From 22nd August 2023 Bodmin Town Council have taken the decision to close their carpark on Berrycoombe Road.  Bodmin Sainbury’s have offered Bodmin Jail Attraction customers free parking in their carpark for up to 2.5 hours (PL31 2SS) until the end of August.   The other carparks in Bodmin are detailed below.

Camel Trail Car Park - PL31 2NR
Please allow for a five-minute walk.

Dennison Road Car Park – PL31 2LL
Pay and display, short stay car park with 62 spaces.  Please allow for an eight-minute walk.

Priory Car Park – PL31 2DQ
Priory Car Park is a pay and display car park for approximately 150 cars with additional spaces adjacent to the Football Club.  Please allow for a 14-minute walk.

Fore Street Car Park – PL31 2DB
Pay and display with both long and short term car parking.  Please allow for a 16-minute walk.

Coach Tourism Association

We encourage travel by coach as it is one of the most cost effective and green ways of visiting Bodmin Jail. If you’d like to organise a group visit and are in need of transport, please check out the Coach Tourism Association’s website to find travel companies that can help. 

Accessibility

The Bodmin Jail attraction is fully accessible, so navigating the site should not be a problem for those with restricted mobility. We do offer limited seating throughout the attaction. For more information on our accessibility please click here. If you have particular mobility issues, please contact the Jail and we will be happy to go through your requirements.  We would like to politely remind all visitors to be respectful of the Bodmin Jail Attraction neighbours if they park near the prison.
