Kids Go Free This Half Term!
From Saturday 25th May to Sunday 1st June 2025, one child goes FREE with every paying adult. It’s the perfect time to experience the jail’s rich past while saving on a memorable family day out. Walk in the footsteps of prisoners and explore true stories that bring over two centuries of history to life.
New VE80 Exhibition: Victory and Reflection
We’re proud to have launched a special VE Day 80th anniversary exhibition, created in partnership with Bodmin Keep – Cornwall’s Army Museum. Running from 15th May to 11th November 2025, Victory and Reflection tells the stories of local Cornish soldiers, the emotional home front, and the legacy of Victory in Europe Day.
See rare artefacts including:
- Medals and uniform from the 5th Battalion of the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry
- A post-war letter linked to Albert Pierrepoint, one of Britain’s last executioners
- Archival VE Day photos from 1945 Bodmin, captured by George Ellis
- It’s a moving, must-see exhibit – and is included in your admission.
Discover 5 Newly Opened Historic Cells
For the first time, we’ve opened five previously inaccessible cells deep within the jail. Carefully restored and dressed, these spaces offer a deeper look at real prisoner stories, solitary confinement, and the harsh conditions of Victorian incarceration. These newly unveiled cells add even more depth and realism to your visit – and are now part of the self-guided experience.
Plan Your Visit
