Is Bodmin Jail Accessible?

The Jail is accessible for standard wheelchairs, mobility aids and pushchairs, up to 630mm in width. Lifts are available to carry our less-mobile visitors between floors. We also have limited seating throughout.

This does not include anyone who is eligible for free entry.

For group visits, we allow one driver (per coach or minibus) and one group organiser, tour escort or Blue Badge Guide (per coach or minibus).

If anyone in the group is aged under five, they do not need to pay for entry. We also offer free entry for one carer per visitor with a disability.

Please note: to qualify for a group visit, there must be 10 or more people in the group. This number does not include anyone who qualifies for free entry.

You can book a group visit at any time of year, provided we are open as usual and there is availability. It is advisable to make your booking well in advance especially if you would like to visit during peak season June – September.

We have a dedicated coach drop-off and pick-up point in Berrycoombe Vale PL31 2NR, just below Jail, with coach parking available at the Priory Car Park in Bodmin Town, PL31 2DQ.

On arrival please make your way through the Gatehouse to our Attraction Entrance - a member of the Jail Team will be there to greet you.

For Self-Guided entry, your visit will be approx 1-2 hours.

For Guided Tours, your visit will be exactly 2 hours.

Allow extra time if your wish to get food & drink and shop!

We will endeavour to keep your group together, however entrance to the attraction is timed in 10 minute intervals with a set capacity (40ppl max).

Self-guided & chaperone groups can usual go through at the same time. If they are split then after our timed section (The Dark Walk) they can reunite at the museum section to continue their journey.

For Guided tours, groups are 25ppl per guide, they will be split through the whole experience and are brought back together after the tour in our courtyard.

Our daytime entrance is 9:30am - 4pm as standard.

We do offer evening events as well, times will vary depending on the event.
