Welcome to Bodmin Jail’s Restaurant
As well as our Jail Exhibition, we also offer a range of delicious meals in our Governors Hall Restaurant. The Governors Hall is a unique jailhouse restaurant that offers an atmospheric dining experience steeped in decades of dark history.
Beautifully renovated and restored to a high standard; retaining many original features including large carved panelling and intricately designed lead-work windows. Rich crimson walls, blue tile and high, arched ceilings makes the Governer’s Hall a stunning venue for all occasions. With its beautiful Victorian decor and spacious seating, the restaurant is a popular choice for weddings and private events. It makes for a wonderful setting for a party, wedding or family get-together, with a well-stocked bar!
Come book our Bodmin restaurant for special occasions, or simply come in for a quick drink — our restaurant and bar is open to tourists as well as to locals looking for an alternative to their pub. You have easy access to the prison levels from the Governors Hall, perfect if you need some quick refreshments before you continue on your prison tour or ghost walk.
Our food is home cooked, freshly prepared from local produce by our dedicated brigade of chefs, who are happy to cater for most dietary needs with advance notice. At our jailhouse restaurant, we pride ourselves in the excellence of our food – have a taste of our delectable, slow cooked belly of pork or take a bite out of our steak and ale suet pudding. We also offer vegetarian options and various seafood for lighter fare.
Our chalkboard ‘Specials’ change on a daily basis, reflecting the changing seasons in the sea and on the land; allowing our chefs to display their many talents.
There is something for all to enjoy in the Jail Kitchens!
